Context
Google asked our SCADpro team to explore:
How might we help people make informed privacy and security decisions on their Pixel devices, and feel confident navigating the digital world?

Today, privacy lives in a dark corner of Settings. Language is vague, architecture is heavy, and the UI treats security as a checklist, not an experience. Most users only visit after something goes wrong.
For a Gen Z audience—people who grew up online, skeptical of big tech, and used to seeing their “stats” for everything—this gap is even sharper. They don’t want comfort slogans like “Looks good.” They want to see what’s actually happening.
I led interaction design, using engagement as the lever for trust. If users are engaged, they actually learn what’s happening and take action.

User Feedback & Refinement
Conducted user testing sessions to gather feedback on the redesigned interface. Iterative refinements were made based on user insights to fine-tune the app’s features, ensuring maximum usability and satisfaction.
Implementation & Launch Support
Although the designs were not launched, they were presented to Google's board, including industry leader Catherine Courage. The presentation showcased the potential improvements in user experience and privacy clarity, highlighting the strategic design approach and proposed enhancements for Google Pixel's privacy settings.

Outcomes
The project provided valuable insights into user interactions with privacy settings, highlighting the importance of clear communication and user empowerment in data management. The proposed designs received positive feedback from the Google board and industry leader Catherine Courage, emphasizing the need for continuous improvements in user-centered design. These findings will inform future projects and initiatives to enhance user trust and engagement with privacy features.
